PerPrev-CID Consortium Meets in Geneva for Its First Progress Meeting: Advancing Chronic Inflammatory Disease Prevention Together
Over two days, from 30 to 31 March 2026, PerPrev-CID partners from across Europe came together at Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland, for the project’s first progress meeting. As the project moves into its second year, the meeting marked an important milestone: a chance to look back on the progress made so far, take stock of current challenges and shape the next steps together.
The meeting brought together teams with expertise in different fields such as molecular research, clinical practice, communication and patient engagement, reflecting what makes PerPrev-CID unique in the first place: its interdisciplinary approach. By combining this knowledge with the perspectives of people living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the project is working towards earlier intervention and better prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases. Over the course of the meeting, partners exchanged updates and discussed several of the project’s main areas of work, including data sampling and swarm learning, digital health tools, nutritional approaches aimed at helping reduce disease flares, and patient-reported outcomes. Discussions also focused on how to develop clear and inclusive communication materials, with particular attention to how to better reach, inform and engage patients and at-risk individuals.
Involvement of people living with chronic inflammatory disorders remained a central part of the meeting throughout. Members of the Patient Advisory Panel joined both on site and online, ensuring that patient perspectives were part of the discussions. This strong involvement is also reflected in an important recent achievement: together with clinical partners and patient representatives, the project has now completed the identification of the most relevant patient-centred outcomes, which will help guide the research going forward. Overall, the meeting in Geneva showed just how much can be achieved by bringing together different types of expertise and keeping collaboration at the heart of the project. With the first year completed and preparations for the clinical study moving forward, PerPrev-CID is now entering its next phase on a strong foundation.
