Call for Legal Experts: Contribute to the PerPrev-CID Ethico-Legal Writathon

As part of its work on advancing personalised prediction and prevention in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), PerPrev-CID is addressing a key question: what ethical and legal aspects need to be considered when working with sensitive health data for predictive disease assessment?

To answer this, the project is organising an ethico-legal writathon, led by the EngageMinds HUB team at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Through interviews, workshops, and feedback rounds, this collaborative writing process brings together the perspectives of patient representatives, healthcare professionals, researchers, and experts in ethics, public health, and AI to co-create a white paper with practical recommendations on the responsible use of health data in personalised prediction and prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases.

Why This Matters

New tools that help predict and prevent diseases and their symptoms hold great promise for improving disease management, health outcomes and quality of life. At the same time, they rely on sensitive health-related data – including clinical, molecular, dietary, socioeconomic, and patient-reported information – which raises important ethical and legal questions. By developing a consensus-based white paper, PerPrev-CID aims to move beyond fragmented frameworks and define practical principles that can support responsible research and collaboration across European projects.

Who We Are Looking for

PerPrev-CID is currently looking for legal experts to contribute to the ongoing writathon. Their expertise will help ensure that relevant legal aspects are addressed in the white paper and support the development of practical recommendations for responsible data use in predictive disease assessment. Interested in taking part? Please get in touch with the team at EngageMinds HUB team - Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore by 20 May.
